About Susan Turner

Currently, I am entering my seventeenth year as a staff senior book designer for Random House, where my work has included conceptualizing and designing the interiors for high profile books and authors running the gamut from cookbooks and literary fiction to commercial non-fiction and health. I was born and raised in New England, attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, where I received a degree in Studio Art with a concentration in drawing and printmaking; I did post-graduate work in photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. My professional background includes promotional design at Dell Books; interior book photography; magazine art direction; commercial package design; and CD package design. My obsessions include 14th century ecclesiastical art (usually Italian), voracious reading (everything from M. F. K. Fisher to Lee Child), and golf. I spend my off hours chasing after a terrier named Pete at my Connecticut home, and removing copious quantities of his blond fur from my (often black) clothing.
